CUTTING gear had to be used by firefighters to remove a trapped motorist from his car, at Fromes Hill.
Two fire crews from Ledbury and Bromyard attended the scene, close to Leadon Court, on Friday, September 19, shortly before 6pm.
They found that a small car, with a 45 year old male driver, had left the road.
The vehicle had collided with trees and undergrowth.
A rapid response vehicle with a paramedic was quickly on the scene, followed by an air ambulance crew from Strensham.
But this crew arrived by car, not helicopter, because fading autumn light meant the air ambulance could not be used.
Another ambulance also arrived on the scene, as firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear to get the motorist out of the car.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, Chris Kowalik said: "He had shoulder pain and pain across the chest, perhaps caused by the seat belt. He also had back pain.
"He was given fluids and pain relief at the scene and immobilised, - using a spinal board and neck collar, before being taken to Hereford County Hospital."
The name of the injured motorist has not been released.
Firefighters remained at the scene until shortly after 7pm.
