YEAR 12 and 13 students and staff at Lady Hawkins School in Kington baked a large selection of delicious cakes to sell to the rest of the school to raise money for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity. The cake sale raised £51 and the winner of the bake-off competition was Jacob Roberts-Powell with a chocolate fudge cake made by his dad Joe, who is a teacher. Jacob won a £10 Lakeland voucher donated by teacher Emily Pugh. The students, part of the Level 3 BTEC hospitality group, and members of staff made cakes including chocolate brownies, caramel slices, flapjacks, Victoria sponges, chocolate and coffee sponges, lemon cakes and lots of decorated cupcakes. These were sold to pupils and staff in the school for 50p during the lunch break.
