A ROSS duo who filmed a trip to India where they worked with orphaned children will see their story on the big screen this Friday.

Jamie Hay, 24, and Joe Griffiths, 25 went to Jaipur last summer to meet children orphaned due to to HIV/AIDS.

They nicknamed the project Vegas2Jaipur, as Ross is often referred to by the tongue-in-cheek name, Ross Vegas.

Mr Hay, who now lives in Hereford, said: "We absolutely loved it. There were incredibly generous and kind people. It was a really busy, vibrant place with lots of positive happy children."

They made a short film called The Indian and the Cowboy, which will be premiered at The Courtyard on Friday.

The film is about a young Indian boy. While outcast by his school friends he forms an unexpected connection with a cowboy in the depths of an Indian jungle.

It is based upon a traditional Indian tale and was shot and filmed in Jaipur with 41 orphaned children.

Mr Hay and Mr Griffiths have been fundraising for the charity, Arms Around the Child, for some time and one of their projects is the orphanage based in Jaipur.

The charity works to provide a loving home, medical treatment, protection, respect and education for children who have lost their parents or are living in adversity including sexual abuse, neglect or exploitation.

The footage from India was then edited by young people from Ross based charity, Hope Support Services, which supports young people when a close family member is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

My Hay said: "It has been an amazing experience working with the orphans in Jaipur and the young people of Hope Support Services. They have made the project something truly unique and uplifting.

"We hope that the film showcases the brilliance of the two groups of young people and highlights their imagination, ideas and inspiration. It's not about the disease, but what you can achieve."

They also collaborated with local creative agency, Shadowplay and were supported by Alison and Phil Clarke of Calendar Lady Promotions.

It will be shown at The Studio Theatre of the Courtyard in Hereford on November 28 at 7pm. Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and are available from the Courtyard website or call 01432 340555.

Hope Support Services and Arms Around the Child will benefit from the proceeds.
