LAST month Anthony Murphy and Lee Symonds announced on facebook that New Year's Eve would be the last Jailhouse night under their management, but before the clock strikes midnight on December 31, there's a birthday to celebrate and loads of memorable nights to enjoy.

Tomorrow is The Lock Up's 12th birthday and DJ Friction, Krafty Kuts, Dodge + Fuski will be on hand to mark the event, with a host of the West Midland's best DJs in support. Saturday will be the final 80s and 90s night at the club, and Hereford Live Presents comes to The Jailhouse on Sunday when Red Room Therapy return to the club to launch their new album, All in the Mind. They'll be supported by local stars Jake of Diamonds and Glue Foot. Red Room Therapy and Jake of Diamonds have both enjoyed festival performances over the summer; both played at Nozstock and RRT played at Liverpool's Sound City and over on the Isle of Man as part of the TT. Both have also enjoyed airplay on regional and national radio (BBC H&W, BBC Wales and BBC Radio 1) under BBC Introducing. Glue Foot, originally from Hereford, relocated to Bristol and Cardiff to study.

With the announcement that The Jailhouse would be closing, Hereford Live, the group dedicated to bringing live music gigs to Hereford and nurturing local talent, discovered just how highly valued it was a venue among artists countywide. "Hereford Live was inundated with approached from bands - everyone wants to play The Jailhouse," said Naomi Preece for Hereford Live. "As a result, they've put on an extra night on December 27."

This final Hereford Live showcase will be raising money for Sophie's Star, an awareness-raising charity set up in memory of Sophie Watts - the night will be headlined by The Misers, with performances from Skinhorse, Stompin' on Spiders, Hannah Davies, Cassandra, Nycosia, Terminal Rage and more.

Christmas Eve sees the return of The Renditions - widely renowned as one of the best covers bands around.

The legendary Scratch Perverts, one of the first big names to appear at the club 14 years ago, return to the Jailhouse for the final time on Boxing Day for what promises to be an unforgettable appearance.

Another 'last ever' event on Dece4mber 28 as the last Spunky night takes place - the Hardcore dance night started more than 15 years ago, winning countless awards in that time. The final night welcomes the return of the scene's royalty: Sy, Scott Brown, MC Sharkey Vibes and LiveLee.

Then on New Year's Eve, December 31, the last ever 'last ever' event at The Jailhouse as Wynnona Ryder and guests, including Osh of Red Room Therapy, present 15 years of Britpop to get the party started, then the original line up of The Anomalies returns for one night only. The Anomalies include Jailhouse managers Lee and Murf, and the band have enjoyed many successes over the years; they have been played on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, played countless festivals and their tracks are used regularly on UK and US TV shows and adverts for channels including Film Four. They are joined on New Year's Eve by the legendary Ed Solo and Uncle Duggs, as well as the very best local DJ talent.

"We wanted to put on a bit of everything we do and make a night that summed the place up, everything from live music, DnB, hip hop, 80s and 90s, swing, Motown, house, techno and everything in between," say Lee and Murf. "The last ever DJ to play The Jailhouse will be the legend himself Ed Solo."
