LABOUR'S campaign for a North Herefordshire seat was launched at an event attended by former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith this week.
Ms Smith – who was the first female Home Secretary – spoke at Leominster Community Centre on Saturday as Labour's Sally Prentice launched her campaign.
Ms Prentice said: "Jacqui and I talked about Labour changing Britain for the better. The NHS, the Open University, the national minimum wage, civil partnerships, national parks – none of these radical reforms would have happened without Labour Governments.
"I’m delighted that former Lib Dem and Green voters who came on Saturday are now thinking of voting Labour.”
She added that they spoke about the need for Labour to be a 'one term opposition'.
"The Tory Lib Dem coalition’s austerity policies have not worked – tax receipts are £43 billion lower – and an increasing numbers of people are struggling to make ends meet, having to use foodbanks, and waiting lists for NHS operations are getting longer."
