A WARNING has gone out to young people about the highly dangerous activity of 'free running' after reports it has started in Hereford city centre.

Police say they have received four reports in the space of a few days of young people climbing onto the roofs of businesses and construction sites and proceeding to jump from one to the other.

The activity is reported to have taken place on Bridge Street, Eign Street, High Town and Widemarsh Street between Saturday March 28 and Monday March 30.

All four incidents are believed to have involved children aged between 12 and 14.

James Lucas, harm reduction coordinator in Hereford, said: "This activity is not only dangerous for those involved but is also causing alarm and distress to the local community.

"Police will seek to identify those involved in this anti-social behaviour. Anyone found participating could be subject to anti-social behaviour interventions.

"I urge parents to speak to their children about the danger of this activity. It is vital that these careless and thoughtless actions are stopped before somebody is seriously injured."

Anyone with information on 'free running' is asked to call police on 101.
