THERE will be free parking for visitors to the May Fayre in Ross-on-Wye.

The popular town event attracts between 5,000 to 10,000 people and this year parking will be free in Herefordshire Council car parks- thanks to sponsor, Parrys Property.

Michael Berry from Parrys Property said "It is the biggest event in Ross, and Parrys are pleased to be offering their support to the May Fayre by sponsoring the car parks for the day.

"We hope it makes people feel that the town wants them to visit."

The organisers of the May Fayre have also received a £2,000 grant from Ross-on-Wye Town Council to put on the event.

At the town council meeting last Monday, David MacGregor, a local trader, said: "I want to ask for your support tonight for Ross-on-Wye May Fayre, which is the largest social event in Ross town's calendar, as far as town centre events go. It is run completely by volunteers."

He said it costs £10,000 to put the event on and added: "Many traders make a loss on the day but they are quite happy to do so, for the good of the community and the social wellbeing it creates."

The May Fayre is on Sunday, May 3 from 10am to 5pm with a wide variety of live music, food, gift and craft stalls, live animals, street theatre, some special guest characters including Elsa from Frozen and Cinderella.
