VOLUNTEERS from a Ledbury charity shop are taking their support into the community to ensure the success of a fundraising coffee morning.

The five Acorns volunteers have stepped up to help out at the event taking place at St Katherine’s Hall in Ledbury on Saturday May 2, from 10am until 2pm.

The fundraiser has been organised by Janet and David Morris, who live in Ledbury, in memory of their late grandson John-Paul, who received care at Acorns for Three Counties, in Worcester.

Shop manager Ellie Scrivens said: “We were approached by Janet to ask if we could help promote the event. As soon as the volunteers from the shop heard about the event they wanted to help in any way they could.

“We have a really good relationship with the community in Ledbury and this is another way of us reaching out to Acorns supporters.”

The group will be helping to serve tea, coffee and cake at the event as well as selling raffle tickets.

The Ledbury Acorns shop is part of a chain of more than 55 that the charity operates across the region that raise around £1.5million per year.

The charity relies on donations and fundraising to help meet the running costs of its three hospices, which stand at more than £8million per year and in the last year Acorns has supported over 760 children and more than 980 families, including those who are bereaved.
