A LEADING Herefordshire tourist attraction is set for a fruitful couple of days as it hosts its annual apple weekend.
The two-day bonanza will be held at Berrington Hall near Leominster this Saturday and Sunday when more than 150 varieties of apple, which have been growing in the hall's walled garden, will feature.
They include the Tillington Court, which originated at Tillington Court near Hereford.
Visitors will also get to see the Ten Commandments, a novelty Herefordshire variety used in cider-making, and Ribston Pippin, which dates from 1707 and is thought to have originated in Yorkshire.
There will be apples from the hall’s orchard for sale, as well as apple tasting and identification, a cider press demonstration by Ralph’s Cider, food and craft stalls plus children’s activities and music.
Berrington’s gardener in charge, Nick Winney, said: "Our orchard contains many heritage varieties of apple, some of which are very rare so we hold this event as a sort of celebration of our harvest each year.
"We have been running this event for a number of years and we hope that this will be the best yet."
The apple weekend will take place from 11am - 4pm each day.
Normal admission prices to the property will apply.
