JUST weeks away from the birth of their second child, a couple from Leominster were told the devastating news that their baby had no heartbeat.

Two days later, Carla Turner had to give birth to their stillborn baby daughter at 35 weeks, who they called Angel.

As Carla, 26, and her husband, Daniel, struggled to come to terms with their loss a charity in Ross-on-Wye called Rocky-Lee's Little Feet stepped in to offer their support.

And to say thank you to the charity Daniel, 24, is canoeing 30 miles from Hereford to Ross and then cycling 20 miles back to Hereford.

The charity, which was set up by a couple whose son Rocky-Lee was stillborn, helped the couple with funding for their child's gravestone's plaque and offered family support.

Mr Turner said: "It was the fact there was someone who had gone through the same. "They had lost a child which is why they set up the charity. It made things a lot easier. "They had been through the same process and knew what we were going through."

The couple went to Hereford County Hospital on July 13 in 2014.

Daniel, who works for a furniture removal company, said: "My wife hadn't felt the child move for quite some time that day. We thought there is something not right. We went to hospital and unfortunately they couldn't find a heartbeat."

Carla then had to give birth to their daughter on July 15.

He added: "I haven't been so bad. I haven't had a breakdown yet. It had affected my wife quite badly. She carried Angel for so long. Our eldest daughter, Lexi-May who is now three, pulled us altogether and kept us going."

And in December a baby sister for Lexi-May was born, who they have called Sophia.

Daniel is taking on the canoeing/ cycling challenge on July 9.

He has never been in a canoe before and Hire A Canoe in Hay-on-Wye is providing him with a canoe and helping him train.
