A MAN has been taken to hospital after being rescued from the River Wye in Hereford this morning.
Emergency services were called to Villa Street, which is next to the river, at around 9.40am.
Two members of the public, local resident Martin Green and another man from Hereford Rowing Club, helped keep the man afloat until emergency services arrived.
Swimmers from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service went into the water and the man was rescued by the fire service’ boat crew.
He was taken to Hereford County Hospital suffering from the effects of the cold.
Police, an ambulance, a paramedic officer, two fire crews from Hereford and Ross-on-Wye, an ultra heavy rescue pump and a water rescue vehicle all attended.
