HUNDREDS of people went to a festival in Ross-on-Wye, which is now becoming an annual event.

Smile Fest took place at the Ross Rugby Grounds in Greytree on Saturday and Sunday in memory of 20-year-old Ollie Floyd who tragically died last March.

The festival took place for the first time last year and this year ran over two days, rather than one.

It is organised by a committee of three, Sally Añnelise Ballinger, Gavin Oates and Wayne Oates, and they are helped by volunteers during the weekend.

Gavin Oates said: "It was a success, even with the weather. We had 500 on the Saturday and close to 1,000 on the Sunday."

Ollie was a Ross Rugby player and on Sunday there was a memorial match between Ross Rugby 15 and Forest Rugby 15, which included players from Drybrook RFC where Ollie started his rugby career- Forest Rugby won.

There was live music on both days, a funfair, a bar, inflatables, food stalls and a fireworks display.

They hope to donate at least £1,000 each to the Ollie Floyd charity, Winston's Wish and Rocky-Lees Little Feet.

Gavin said: "Ollie- it is all about remembering him. All of his mates come down. Next year we are going to change the name to Ollie Fest instead of Smile Fest.

"We want to expand it as much as we can and get more companies involved in sponsorship."

They plan to get a marquee next year.
