TREF-Y-CLAWDD Rugby club held their annual wheelbarrow race on August 26.

This year there were six teams who started from the Kinsley bridge and then made their way up Station Road calling at the Horse and Jockey, for a drink before going up Broad Street and High street stopping for a quick drink at all the pubs on the way.

After stopping outside the Plough the competitors made their way down West Street and stopped or last drink at the Red Lion before getting to the finishing line by the clock tower. First over the line were Will Hodnett and Liam Davies. The pair crossed the line minus their wheelbarrow which had been taken a long way away from where they stopped for their last drink by a member of a rival team.

Organisers decided Will and Liam were the winners because they were ahead of all other competitors until the race sabotage.

The race was started by Knighton Carnival presidents Paul and Helen Davies who were also at the clock tower with a large crowd of people to welcome all the teams to the finish.
