THE annual Knighton Show and Carnival was held on August 27. The event started with the day time procession led by town crier Derek Price and Cllr Sally Vaughan mayor of Knighton followed by the carnival princess float, the pedestrians in fancy dress, the floats and vintage cars and a tractor.

The show field was very busy with lots of things to keep people of all ages entertained all afternoon. These included horse show, dog show, sheep spectacular, horsemen of the knight, Knighton Fire Brigade demonstration, junior football, children's races and the community centre filled with hundreds of entries in the horticultural, floral and handicraft section.

Show chairman Mat O'Rourke thanked everyone for turning up on the day and said a special thank you to all the events sponsors and helpers.

Winners in the procession day and evening as follows:

Day pedestrians 1st prize winners: Class 1 Chloe Burgins; Class 2 Brooke Davies; Class 3 Holly Demynn; Class 4 Olivia and Willow Hayman; Class 5 Ian and Fiona Morris; Class 7 The Flintstones; Class 8 Lego; Class 9 Harry Potter. The Val Caine Cup was won by Chloe Burgins. The Charles Duggan Perpetual Cup was won by Lego.

Day vehicular procession 1st prize winners: Class 10 Chicken Run; Class 11 Shaun the Sheep. The Mid Wales Journal Cup was won by Chicken Run. The Jean Spencer Memorial Trophy was won by Robin Hood. The Paddy Brick Memorial cup was won by Shaun the Sheep.

Evening pedestrians 1st prize winners: Class 1 Dylan Sharp; Class 2 Sugar Woo Woo; Class 3 Emma and Ellen Pugh; Class 4 Ian and Fiona Morris; Class 5 Lego; Class 6 Alice in Wonderland. The Marjorie Wanklin Memorial Trophy was won by Alice in Wonderland. The Robin Banks Perpetual Cup was won by Lego.

Evening vehicular procession 1st prize winners: Class 7 Chicken Run; Class 8 Knighton YFC. The RAFA Cup was won by Knighton YFC. The Barry Masters Cup was won by Shaun the Sheep.
