HEREFORDSHIRE Council is inviting frustrated motorists to offer their views on the latest plans to improve traffic in the south of the city.

Belmont, Hunderton and Hinton are all identified as the areas to be helped through the use of cycle lanes, new routes and the next phase of the Hereford bypass.

The proposals, called the South Wye Transport Package (SWTP), will be on show between 10am and 8pm next Monday at The Kindle Centre near the Asda supermarket.

Councillor Philip Price, cabinet member infrastructure said: “The problems in the South Wye area have mainly been caused by the level of congestion along the A465 and the A49. This has resulted in poor levels of air quality and noise and has resulted in large numbers of short distance trips being made by car. The proposed improvements will help to counter this.”

"We are committed to improving cycling and walking infrastructure in the area, to make it easier for children to walk to school, to reduce traffic, and improve air quality and health for everyone.

"The proposals will also improve access to the Hereford Enterprise Zone, making life easier for those who choose to walk or cycle to work at the Rotherwas estate.

The exhibition and survey is also available online until 25 October. See herefordshire.gov.uk/south-wye-transport-package
