POLICE are appealing for witnesses of a crash which left a woman needing to be airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The 73-year-old woman was in a reduced level of consciousness and suffered a fractured arm and chest injuries following the crash at 1.20pm on Sunday on the A465 in Allensmore.

She was driving a blue Volkswagen Polo which was travelling in the direction of Abergavenny when it was in collision with a grey Mitsubishi Spacestar, which had been travelling in the direction of Hereford.

She was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where she was later discharged.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Spacestar, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to the Hereford County Hospital with minor injuries where he was later discharged.

Police are eager to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the circumstances leading up to it. Witnesses are asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident 330S of Sunday, September 25.
