HEREFORDSHIRE Council makes a major contribution to the cost of CCTV in the county, which is paid for by all taxpayers throughout the county (Who should pay for CCTV service to keep Herefordshire safe?).
This includes those in the rural areas who receive no protection from CCTV in their villages and hamlets and very occasional benefit should they chose to visit the city.

It was therefore appropriate that Hereford City Council made a contribution as those who live or work in the city are the major beneficiaries of the CCTV protection.
However, Hereford City Council have decided to withdraw their funding, forcing the county council to place this additional burden on all county tax payers including those in the rural areas who receive little or no benefit.
Just how selfish and cynical can the city councillors get, off-loading their responsibilities onto the already overburdened county council?
