A TRUCK driver from Herefordshire who was caught drink-driving was nearly twice the legal drink-drive limit, a court was told.
The driver, 24-year-old Charlie Wood, was recorded as having 70 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal driving limit is 35 mg.
Wood, of the Cross in Ledbury, pleaded guilty to one count of driving a vehicle when his alcohol level was above the limit when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates’ Court in March.
He was caught in Drake Street in Welland, Worcestershire, while driving a Ford Ranger truck on February 24, prosecutor Angla Hallan told the court.

He was disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined £230. He must also pay prosecution costs of £135 and a victim surcharge of £92.
He was also offered the opportunity to take a drink-driving awareness course by March 2025 to reduce his ban by 18 weeks.
The magistrates took Wood’s guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty.
