A DRINK-DRIVER from Herefordshire has been handed a hefty fine after he was caught behind the wheel of a VW Golf while over the limit.

Liam Young entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Cheltenham this month.

The court heard from prosecutor Kirsty Drew that the 28-year-old had been caught behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf on the M5 in Gloucester while over the limit on March 22.

An evidential breath test revealed he had 82 microgrammes (mg) of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. This exceeded the legal limit, which is 35 mg.
