A HEREFORDSHIRE bar that banned hoodies now wants to stay open later.

The Quarters, in Leominster's South Street, opened in the old Ducker bar in December and promises a fun, safe atmosphere with a wide selection of drink offerings and music to get you on the dancefloor.

And now, after a full renovation and with soundproofing measures installed, the team have applied to extend their opening hours.

“Our customers have asked time and time again if we can stay open later," said Laura Rigney, one of the four owners.

“We have worked closely with our neighbours to ensure that they are not disturbed as a result of our music or our customers and we’re happy to say that this has now been achieved!”

The Quarters currently opens on Friday and Saturday nights but has applied for extended hours seven days a week.

“This is simply to allow us to offer our venue as an alternative option for weekday wedding and private functions," Ms Rigney said.

“If the application were granted, we would continue to open at the weekends and only alter that for special occasions, functions or events.”

Currently, there is only one other venue in Leominster that has a late-night offering so options are limited if you do want to have a few after-hours drinks.

The bar, which also has lots of events in the diary and a range of cocktails ready to be launched, first hit the headlines when the team announced their intended dress code, which included no hoodies.

“We did initially say no hoodies however, since opening and speaking to many of the locals, we aren’t embarrassed to admit that we were wrong," Ms Rigney said.

"The no hoodies rule has since been lifted.”

The consultation period ends on May 20.
