The next meeting is on Saturday at Gilwern, starting at 1.30pm.

Bid for glory

TWO Hereford golfers are hoping for glory when they contest the Audi Quattro UK Cup final at the Bowood Golf and Country Club near Calne in Wiltshire next Thursday.

Paul Jones, aged 50, and Shaun Bufron, 47, both from Belmont won through by claiming second place at the regional final at St Pierre after qualifying at the South Hereford Audi event at Burghill Valley.

There are 34 other golfers competing for the UK title with the top two pairs going on to the World Cup final at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai in December.

Ramps is star guest

WORMELOW have lined up former England batsman Mark Ramprakash to be the star guest at their golden jubilee dinner next year.

The village club, who were formed in 1965, are lining up a series of special events to mark their first 50 years with Ramprakash, whose CV also includes a win on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, speaking at the dinner on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Three Counties Hotel.

Fencer competes

HAY-on-Wye fencer Katie Rawlins is taking part in the Sainsbury's 2014 School Games, which get underway next Thursday in Manchester.

Rawlins, who is 16, will represent and captain Wales in the epee fencing.

"I am thrilled to be selected," she said. "This will be my third year and I'm particularly pleased to be captaining my team.

"It is such and amazing experience."

Dales hold open day

LEOMINSTER-based Dales CC are holding an Waitrose-sponsored ECB open day on September 7.

Nets will be available from 10-30am -12.30pm followed by a friendly match against Knighton-on-Teme in the afternoon.
