SKIER Colin Tucker proved his ice cool mentality by winning a competition in South America.

Tucker, from Mordiford, lifted the FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski) Masters South American Cup's overall title following the event in the Andes mountains in Chile.

He also reached the podium during the Special Slalom event there and finished fourth in both Super G (Super Giant Slalom) categories as well as finishing strongly in the Giant Slalom (GS).

"I was pleased to get a sound result in the GS as conditions were challenging," said Tucker.

"The two Super G's were longer than those held in Europe. I found more confidence and was able to look for where speed could be gained."

The events were held at the high Andes ski resorts of Valle Nevado and El Colorado.
