THE Mortimer Park faithful saw some of the rewards of Luctonians' partnership with Worcester Warriors when on Hughes scored the third try.

The centre made his debut for Lucs after joining from Championship side Warriors.

As reported by the Hereford Times earlier this month, the Worcester Warriors Junior Academy Centre will provide the most talented young players in the area with a route to a career in the professional game.

"This is the first showing of the partnership with Worcester," said Luctonians director of rugby Alex Davidson.

"The bare bones of it is that we would like some player exchanges with their young academy guys because we feel it is the right level for them to play.

"Jon Hughes, who got our third try, is a young centre who has come from Worcester from our link with them.

"We have got him for the remainder of the season because of dual registration.

"Early signs are very promising from him."

Davidson added that Lucs are also looking to bring in a couple of players from South Wales.

"In previous years, we have maybe looked at top three in the league and try and push a bit, but we've had a few player injuries over the last season so now it's about survival in this league and we really want to cement our place at level four," he said.
