TENBURY United joint-manager Aaron Morris maintains league safety is the team's priority despite being in three cup semi-finals next month.

The Palmers Meadow side are in the last four of the HFA Charity Bowl, HFL Senior Cup and HFL Clubsport Cup.

However, they have struggled in Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Premier Division and face a tough task away at Wellington Reserves this Saturday.

But they go into it in confident mood following a a come-back win against bottom club Leominster Town

"Our main aim is to make sure we are safe in the league but we’d love to be in as many finals as we can," said Morris.

"To look back at the end of the season with some silverware would be fantastic."

United sat just one place above Leominster going into the game and their Herefordshire opponents had only won once all season.

“It’s games against the bottom sides where we have struggled in” said Morris.

“We knew we had to get the win, so we’re delighted with the result, but the performance at times wasn’t good enough.”

Despite Tenbury dominating for large spells during the first half, it was the hosts who opened the scoring against the run of play.

“We showed character to come from behind twice, and we’re delighted with the three points," said Morris.

The game burst into life after the break with four goals, a yellow card, A sending off and a penalty all being awarded.

Within five minutes of the restart, United found themselves level when Ashley Giles scored from close range.

The parity was short-lived though when a defensive mix-up allowed Leominster to retake the lead.

United piled on the pressure as they searched for another leveller, and when Nick Stocker found Dale Withers with a cross from the right, he made no mistake in making it 2-2 with a powerful header.

With time running out Giles broke through the Leominster defence, only to be poleaxed by the out-rushing Leominster goalkeeper, Terry Williams.

The foul left the referee with no option but to give Williams his marching orders and award Tenbury a spot-kick which man-of-the-match Dan Gittens coolly converted.

Joint-manager Stocker was full of praise for his side, especially the role that Gittens played.

“Dan joined us mid-way through the season after having a bit of time away from football and he’s starting to show why we tried so hard to get him to join the club," said Stocker.
