WESTFIELDS missed a number of chances against Heath Hayes on Tuesday night and had to settle for a point.

Sean Edwards’ side found themselves a goal down in the 18th minute, but drew level two minutes later thanks to a crisp shot from Marcus Palmer.

Jamie Cuss should have put Westfields ahead before half-time, but his shot went the wrong side of the post.

After the break, Luke Corbett saw his effort saved by Heath Hayes’ goalkeeper before Cuss headed wide from just three yards out.

Corbett again went close for Westfields and Joel Edwards’ header went past the post. Westfields therefore had to settle for a point in the Midland Football League Premier Division game, but were disappointed not to get all three.

Last Saturday, goals from Cuss and Zac Sirrell helped Westfields to a 2-1 win against Tipton Town.

The Hereford side started well and saw Craig Jones strike a post with a right-foot shot.

Cuss opened the scoring with a close-range effort after 30 minutes before Sirrell doubled the lead shortly before half-time after sending his low shot under the hands of the diving Tipton goalkeeper.

Sirrell almost scored again after the break, but saw his effort saved before Tipton’s Gurjit SIngh produced an acrobatic save from Westfields keeper Harvey Rivers. Singh did find the net six minutes from time, but Westfields held on for the win.
