THREE Herefordshire runners did themselves proud at the British Masters Cross Country Championship at Ruthin, North Wales, with one being crowned a British champion.
Ady Whitwam, from Army and Morpeth Harriers Running Club, completed the 8k race in 28 minutes and 58 seconds to become British V35 Champion, some ten seconds clear of the rest of the field.
The victory follows his winning performance in the Herefordshire Cross Country in January.
In the 65-70 age group, Steve Herington, of Hereford Couriers, just missed out on the medals after finishing fourth in a field of 29 in the 6k race.
He completed the course in 26 minutes and 44 seconds, just 18 seconds behind bronze.
“I think we were all very pleased with our times because this was a very competitive event, with runners taking part from all over the country," said Herrington.
In a competitive V70’s race, Guy Whitmarsh, of Croft Ambrey, finished in fifth place with a time of 30 minutes and 12 seconds.
