LEOMINSTER Town club secretary Sharon Fellowes is on the road to Wembley as an FA People’s Award finalist.

Sharon makes the shortlist from thousands of grassroots football volunteers across the country.

With the Twin Towers tantalizingly in sight, Sharon now needs votes to go the distance.

A 14 year stalwart of Leominster Minors, Sharon was one of the team that  steered the Minors to merge with Leominster Town to create a single club  competing across the age groups over the past season.

The nomination citation salutes Sharon’s “countless hours” attending league and county meetings combined with “always being on hand” to help with questions, problems and issues arising over the club.

Now, she’s putting plans in place for a new Leominster Town club house, believing football should have a “social side” where coaches, players and club staff come together in one place.

A recent knee operation meant Sharon had to give up her refereeing, but, in moving behind the scenes, she has become the Vice Chair of the Herefordshire Girls League and, earlier this year, broke new ground to become the first ever female director of the Herefordshire FA.

Each People’s Award nominee is a regional award winner from this year’s FA Community Awards - Outstanding Contribution to Community Football category.

The 2015 People’s Award will be presented at this year’s National FA Community Awards Ceremony at Wembley Stadium.
