HEREFORDSHIRE 2nd XI let a useful victory platform topple as they went down to a 51-run defeat in a one-day fixture with the Worcestershire County League XI at Eastnor.
They looked likely winners for much of the game but a late batting collapse saw them surrender their last seven wickets for just 19 runs.
The Worcestershire League were bowled out for 207 in 44.1 overs, with the wickets shared between Jonathan Gooch (2-42), Elliot Williams (2-20), Jack Aldous-Fountain (2-29), Taylor Pugh (2-47) and two late run outs.
Herefordshire were looking good at 137 for three in reply but once Barney Morgan was dismissed for 22, they folded quickly to 156 all out.
Shameer Ahmed was seventh man out for 41 and Aldous-Fountain had earlier hit 35 (five fours and a six).
Herefordshire 2nd XI are in action again this coming Sunday and Monday when they contest a two-day fixture with the Worcestershire Academy at Bromyard.
