HEREFORD and County Athletics Club hosted the fourth and final match for the Youth Development League which was attended by six teams.

Under-15 Luke Darwin started off a good day for the Hereford team by winning the 80m hurdles before claiming a victory in the pole vault and second in the javelin.

Owen Moroney, an under-13 athlete, had three first places in the 100m and 200m A races and long jump, while Will Lovejoy finished first in the 100m and 200m B races and 800m A race. Joe Flannery claimed first place in the 80-0m B race, with fellow under-13 athlete Patrick Morgan winning the javelin.

The under-13 boys relay was an exciting end to the day with the Hereford team winning by a long way over their rivals.

Top under-15 girl was Kimberley Marson, who came second in her 200m and shot put events.

The Hereford team finished fifth on the day and fifth in the league overall.

Blaenau Gwent won the match, but it is Forest of Dean who gained promotion to the South West 1 Division.
