EASTNOR spokesman Malcolm Hughes says the villagers have to win both their games over the Bank Holiday weekend if they are to stay in Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Division Two.

The villagers, who earned an excellent win against high-fliers Penkridge last Saturday, travel to Stourbridge before hosting Brewood.

Both opponents have 149 points, 25 more than Eastnor, who prop up the division.

"We have got to win both games to stand any chance of staying up," said Hughes.

"But we have got an opening bowler Shaid Ahmed back, as well as our spinner Jabran Khalid and Tareq Jamil.

"It's in our hands, but we know we've got to win both games."

Following the Bank Holiday double-header, Eastnor face mid-table sides Shifnal and Coventry and North Warwickshire.

Heavy rain meant that Eastnor's innings was stopped after 23 overs, with the villagers on 104-2.

But they were ahead of the run rate via the Duckworth Lewis method, resulting in them securing the win.

Penkridge had earlier posted 208-6 off a reduced 50 overs, with Atiq Ur Rehman taking three of those wickets.

Raheel Lone also helped himself to two wickets, with Jamil getting the other one.

Suleyman Shah only made eight off 28 balls for Eastnor, with Clive Chadhani (31) also departing.

But a fine knock from Ur Rehman, who finished unbeaten on 37 at nearly a run a ball, and Shameer Ahmed, who made 20, saw Eastnor go 15 runs ahead of D/L before the heavens opened again.
