HEREFORSHIRE Schools President's XI overcame Bishop's School 57-10 in a highly competitive game of rugby.

After early pressure from Bishops, the President's XV counter-attacking fly-half Laurie Baldwin of Monmouth School went through to finish off an excellent move.

The forwards battled hard, with President's XV's number eight Morgan Nelson of John Kyrle High School having a great game.

It was no surprise when the visitors added a second try through centre Sam Johnson, also of John Kyle, which Baldwin converted.

Bishops reduced arrears though when prop Matthew Frost went crashing over after a rolling maul.

But the visitors went further in front when fullback Will Aylen of Hereford Cathedral School ran the length of the field to score to take his side into the half-time break 17-5 ahead.

Two quick tries from Alexi Webb (Monmouth School) and Nelson, both converted by Baldwin took the Presidents' XV into a 31-5 lead.

But Bishops never gave up and added a try out wide from Josh Powell.

However, that was as good as it got for the home side because the President's XV soon added two further tries from Johnson, which Baldwin converted.

Hereford Cathedral School winger Tom Bricknell then scored another try before Baldwin converted Ben Seabourne's effort to seal the win.

"Although the scoreline would suggest that this was a one-sided game, nothing could be further from the truth," said John Escott, president of Herefordshire Schools.

"Both sides played highly competitive rugby to entertain a large crowd.

"I selected a talented bunch of boys capable of playing 15-man rugby at its best."
