HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle says the club is fortunate to have Mustapha Bundu due to the winger being unable to player higher than step five in the non-league pyramid.

A number of clubs have kept tracked of the 18-year-old's progress at Edgar Street, but are reluctant to pursue their interest.

"He has an educational visa at Hartpury which only allows him to play at Step Five," said Beadle.

"His coach, Marc Richards, is a first team coach at Gloucester and he would love to have him there, but with a lot of African nation players, he would have to go and play in Europe to get a correct visa before coming back to England.

"So, it is very fortunate for us.

"He spent a week at a Premiership club in the early part of the season, but if they bring him in, they would have to send him abroad.

"It will be a big investment for a player who has potential, but it's only potential.

"At the moment, he is extremely happy playing his football at Hereford and we are getting the benefit."

Bundu struck twice as Hereford comfortably beat Hartley Wintney 4-1 in the fifth round of the FA Vase.

Beadle said he has been on Bundu's case to be more clinical in matches.

"He needs to learn that he doesn't need to win the game on his own, there are equally good players as him," said Beadle.

"He is a fantastic talent and, on Saturday, I think he showed what he can do.

"When he gets opportunities, he needs to be more clinical, and he was on Saturday."

Beadle was pleased with the character his players showed in a match played in less than ideal conditions.

"There's been lots of talk about the way we play and how we would struggle to cope on pitches that may be aren't as good as we're used to, but the challenge came to us and the lads showed they could cope with it," said Beadle.

"We got through the game and were still able to play some decent football."

Mike Symons scored Hereford's third goal and Beadle is pleased with the big striker's rich vein of form.

"He has shown in recent weeks how good he can be, on the floor as well as in air," said Beadle.

"He wanted an opportunity to show what he was about and he is doing that at the moment and scoring goals."

Despite netting an astonishing 42 goals this season, John Mills has failed to score in three of his last four games.

But, Beadle believes the lethal marksman has shown a different side to his game recently.

"I thought John worked very hard on Saturday and was very unselfish on Saturday," said Beadle.

"He was excellent and put in a very intelligent performance.

"It would have been nice for him to have got a goal, but it was not to be, but I'm sure it will come in the next game."

After a slow opening 30 minutes, Hereford grabbed the lead when Bundu rifled the ball home.

And the game was seemingly won within the first six minutes of the second half.

Symons showed neat footwork to double the lead in the 49th minute before Bundu made it 3-0 two minutes later.

Hartley Wintney pulled a goal back through Ross Cook from the penalty spot in the 69th minute before the striker, and Hereford defender Ryan Green, were both sent off following an altercation. Green was given a straight red card, while Cook received his second yellow.

Nevertheless, the Bulls had the final say when substitute Joe Tumelty added a fourth goal deep into stoppage time.
