HEREFORD Lads Club Ladies are celebrating after winning a league and cup double.

The city side have retained their Midwest Counties Female League title and beat Cookley Sports 4-1 to win the Bill Allsopp Memorial Trophy.

Lads Club opened the scoring after only seven minutes through Amy Reynolds before Ella Voyce went close.

The second goal came in the 26th minute thanks to a superb 20-yard curling shot from Roxanne Payne.

Just before half-time, Payne again put the put in the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed for a foul.

Cookley came out strong in the second half and tested the Lads Club defence.

On the hour-mark, Lads Club had a glorious chance to make it 3-0, only for Josephine Evans' effort to go wide.

Reynolds then saw her 30-yard shot hit the bar and Cookley were awarded a penalty.

Elland Draper calmly converted the spot-kick to reduce the deficit, but Lads Club sealed the win with a 25-yard strike by Emily Lovelock at the death.
