HEREFORD FC are Midland Football League Premier Division champions. Re-live the season's highs and lows with our month-by-month review here.

AUGUST

Hereford started the season with a comfortable 4-1 home win over Dunkirk, thanks to a hat-trick from John Mills. The historic match was played in front of 4,060 fans.

But the Bulls came back down with a bump three days later – going down 2-0 to Stourport Swifts.

A further defeat followed at Highgate United before an amazing turnaround followed at Rocester. The Bulls were 3-0 down after only 15 minutes, but remarkably won 4-3 thanks to a stoppage time winner from Rob Purdie from the penalty spot.

Three days later, Hereford hosted Coleshill Town, but lost 5-4 in an extraordinary game – leaving many fans scratching their heads in disbelief.

The Bulls ended the month with a 0-0 draw at Westfields in front of a capacity crowd.

SEPTEMBER

After the Bulls' stuttering the start, a daunting task awaited at early pace-setters Heanor Town. But an amazing final 10 minutes saw Hereford score four times to win 7-2. It was new signing Jamie Willets' first game for the club, while Mills scored another hat-trick.

Hereford then gained two narrow home wins against Boldmere St Michaels and Shepshed Dynamo – both 2-1 victories – before Mills netted all four goals in a 4-1 mid-week drubbing of Lye Town.

Mills was also on target in the reverse fixture against Boldmere, scoring twice in a 3-0 win and fired in yet another hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing of Walsall Wood.

Mills finished the month with 19 league goals and the Bulls' promotion march – helped with the inclusion of Ryan Green at the back – was in earnest.

OCTOBER

After beating Bardon Hill in the FA Vase, Hereford started their league campaign with a potentially tricky test at home to Long Eaton United in a first versus second encounter at Edgar Street. Just over 3,000 fans turned up for the match and saw John Mills win the match in a nervy 1-0 victory.

The Bulls then really found their scoring boots in their two games.

Mills was again on target, scoring twice in a 4-0 at Brocton; youth prodigy Carlos Moreira and Adam Page also scored.

Then, three days later, the Bulls thrashed Continental Star 6-0. Pablo Haysham helped himself to a hat-trick, with Joel Edwards, Mills and Page also netting.

Page was also on against Quorn, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win at Edgar Street.

The Bulls ended the month concentrating on cup competitions, disposing of Westfields in the Polymac Packaging Midland Football League Cup and Rocester in the FA Vase.

NOVEMBER

AFTER beating Rocester in the FA Vase, Hereford faced the same opponents in the league on November 7. The Bulls won again, with John Mills, Pablo Haysham, Adam Page and Joe Tumelty scoring in a 4-0 win.

Stourport were next up, a side who beat Hereford in the Bulls' first away game. But there was not going to be a repeat this time. Hereford eased to a resounding 6-0 win, with Mike Symons opening his Bulls account with a hat-trick. Rob Purdie also scored twice, with Mustapha Bundu completing the rout.

Next up was a trip to Bardon Hill, a side Hereford had almost faced earlier in the Vase. The game was in doubt due to heavy rain, but the pitch was deemed playable and the Bulls ground out a 2-0 win. Mills – like he was in the Vase match – was once again on target, with Mike Symons also scoring.

After easing past Haughmond in the Vase, the Bulls ' next league match was against Coleshill Town. The Warwickshire side shocked the Bulls with a 5-4 win back in August, but a league double for them never looked on the cards and Hereford eased to a 4-1 victory. Mills was once again on target, scoring twice, with Bundu and an own goal adding to the scoreline.

DECEMBER

THE first two Saturdays of the month for Hereford were cup games, so it was not until December 19 that the Bulls were in league action. Hundreds of fans made the journey to Lye Town and saw Hereford nervously win 2-1 thanks to goals from Symons and Mills.

Next up was the eagerly-awaited derby match at Edgar Street between Hereford and Westfields. A record league attendance of 4,381 watched the match, which the Bulls won 3-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Mills.

Hereford were back at Edgar Street just two days later against Coventry Sphinx. Mills scored another two goals, with Haysham (2), Jamie Willets and Bundu also being on target in a 6-1 drubbing.

JANUARY

HEREFORD started the New Year with a tricky test at AFC Wulfrunians and so it proved. For large periods of the match, Wulfrunians matched their higher-graded opponents and were on course for a draw. But Haysham popped up with the winner to complete a 2-1 win.

The Bulls were next in league action on January 23 because of the Vase and faced title contenders Alvechurch. Just over 4,000 fans were in attendance and saw Ryan Green head home an early goal. But Alvechurch equalised in the second half and Herefor dropped a rare two points.

FEBRUARY

AFTER disposing of Hartley Wintney to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Vase, Hereford faced AFC Wulfrunians at Edgar Street. And like the reverse fixture in January, Wulfs proved to be another tough test for Pete Beadles men. Mustapha Bundu scored for the Bulls, but Hereford in the end had to settle for a point – the second successive league game that Hereford had drawn at Edgar Street.

Nevertheless, the Bulls bounced back in the best possible way – thrashing high-fliers Sporting Khalsa 4-0. Bundu was the star man, netting a hat-trick, with Pablo Haysham also on target.

Hereford were now flying and sealed their place in the semi-finals of the FA Vase thanks to a dramatic extra-time winner from John Mills against Camberley Town. But the league was the number one priority and the Bulls were brought back down to earth by Highgate United. Hereford were missing a number of players and Highgate capitalised, winning 2-0.

MARCH

Hereford knew they could not afford many more slip-ups, especially with Alvechurch showing no sign of dropping many points. And the month started perfectly for the Bulls thanks to a 5-0 away win at Loughborough University. Haysham, Bundu, Ross Staley, Aaron Birch and Mike Symons were all on target.

A memorable two-legged semi-final win against Salisbury then followed in the FA Vase to seal Hereford's place at Wembley before it was the return fixture against Loughborough at Edgar Street. Unlike the first encounter, the University side proved to be a tougher nut to crack and it was left to a Bundu penalty to seal a 1-0 win for Hereford.

A 7-0 thrashing of strugglers Bardon Hill then followed – Bundu scoring four of the goals – before a potential title decider against Alvechurch was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Hereford ended the month with a 4-0 win at Long Eaton United; Mills back in form with two of the goals.

APRIL

HEREFORD knew they could be league champions by the end of the month, but had a packed a programme. On paper, an away game at second-from bottom Dunkirk looked a relatively straight-forward test. But, incredibly Dunkirk took the lead before levelling it up at 2-2 after Hereford hit back. It needed a 95th minute winner from Mike Symons to spare the Bulls' blushes.

An edgy 2-1 home win then followed against Walsall Wood; Symons and Pablo Haysham netting, before a top-versus-second clash at Alvechurch.

Lye Meadow was full to capacity and the away fans went wild when Rob Purdie expertly lobbed the ball home. Haysham then made it 2-0 before Alvechurch pulled a goal back. It then needed a late penalty save from Martin Horsell to ensure Hereford came away with three valuable points.

Mustapha Bundu then scored twice in a 4-1 home win over Brocton before the Bulls came from behind to beat bottom club Continental Star 5-1.

An edgy 2-0 win at Quorn followed before Haysham, Symons and Purdie netted in an excellent 3-0 win at Sporting Khalsa.

The Bulls firmly had one hand on the trophy following an 8-0 thrashing over fancied Heanor Town and they were crowned champions thanks to a 4-0 win at Coventry Sphinx.

Pete Beadle's men are now on target to win the quadruple and lifted the league trophy following their Polymac Packaging midland Football League semi-final victory over Stourport Swifts at Edgar Street.
